The art of William Hogarth (1697-1764)
   
  Hogarth was a major English painter and pictoral satirist who has been credited as a pioneer in cartoon art. His work ranged from excellent realistic and expressive portraiture to comicstripe-like series of pictures called modern ethics. A lot of his art poked fun at at his time current politicians and human life.
