Banff National Park in Alberta....

We followed this along (or up) the valley.

Flowing into Lake Louise.

And the reason for this? Remind me....

I have no memory of why this was done (and it might
just have been another Stuntman Challenge).

I'm sure this is part of Wapta (and it came from the same album).

The Wapta Ice Field (which was home for five days).

I wasn't very good at roll-ups....

Though we did get to live in a lodge that was at the edge
of the field. That is a badly rolled cigarette! Promise!
And this was an Army expedition, after all.

The Army was cheap on suitable clothing for non-operational work!

Going up!
(and still wearing jeans for some reason).

Crossing a pleasantly flat part of the glacier.

Looks a bit sad without the snow/glacier in the background, doesn't it?

This wasn't the Wapta peak itself (which was a few kilometers to the north).

Our first ascent of a peak. I was number one of the
second team (we were roped in threes). That's
the number three of the first team ahead.

At the top on this peak (whatever its name was).

On top of the next (or possibly the third) peak.
I believe that the Canadian team-leader
had borrowed (as in 'bought') the somewhat
better clothing we acquired (from the lodge).

Crevasse 'rescue'....

Making us work.

My own snowhole!

Still working!

Back to Lake Louise.

It's a road!

Going down again (though we got to leave the skis in the lodge (for the next wanderers).

Not carrying much on the way down.
