THEOPHILUS, a zealous persecutor of the Christians.

HARPAX, an evil spirit, following THEOPHILUS in the shape of a secretary.

DOROTHEA, The Virgin Martyr.

SAPRITIUS, Governor of Cæsarea.

ANTONINUS, son of Sapritius.

ARTEMIA, daughter to DIOCLESIAN.

MACRINUS, friend to ANTONINUS.

ANGELO, a good spirit, serving DOROTHEA in the habit of a page.

Notes:

I gather that 'to conster' is to understand.... and from these scenes is a remonstration of the repression (of Christianity) that took place in Diocletian's rule. Epitomised by Dorothea's plight.
